1. Does the YWCA provide housing?
No, the YWCA of San Francisco & Marin does not have rooms available for housing to rent. Please consult the United Way of the Bay Area's 211 information site to find housing resources: http://www.211bayarea.org
2. What kind of programs does the YWCA of San Francisco & Marin provide?
Please see our program page for specific information on our programs for youths, families, and older adults in San Francisco and Marin County communities.
3. Is the YWCA a Christian organization?
We are not a religious organization, however the YWCA acknowledges our Christian heritage. We work to empower women of any religion, race, or ethnic background.
4. What is the relationship between the YWCA and the YMCA?
The two organizations are completely separate and although we share a similar name there is no connection. The YWCA was founded in the United States in 1858 during the Industrial Revolution when women began moving into cities and searching for housing and jobs to support their families. The YWCA began as a woman’s movement dedicated to empowering women and eliminating racism.

6. Can I rent a room for a meeting or event?
Yes we rent rooms when we have availability at our 940 Powell Street location. Please contact our administrative offices at 415-775-6502.
7. Do you have a gym at your facilities?
We do not operate a gym. You can contact your local YMCA.

8. Is the YWCA a national organization?
The YWCA reflects worldwide movement for social justice. In the United States, nine regional councils provide technical support and services for local associations within their borders. The YWCA-USA is an advocacy organization, governed by a board consisting of representatives from each region. The World YWCA brings together over 600 representatives from the 100 national associations affiliated to the global YWCA movement. The YWCA of San Francisco & Marin maintains its own local programs, Executive Director, and Board of Directors.
