Through our program you’ll learn how to get job ready, build your skills and stay motivated in your job search.

Taking Control of Your Job Search6 days, 2.5 hours (Virtual)

Our signature 6-day Virtual workshop series, “Taking Control of your Job Search” is designed to comprehensively increase your success in seeking out employment and help you build new connections and networks within a peer group of women 50 and older.

Participants will emerge with a strong resume, improved interview skills, creative job search techniques, new connections with other job seekers and an action plan for how to move forward after the workshops end. You will learn how to make your age an asset in your search, have time for practical application of the skills you are learning, and leave the class prepared to seek out, apply for, interview for and negotiate for the position you want.

This workshop is open to all women fifty and older, including those who are just starting their search, those who are currently looking and job seekers wanting new tools and/or inspiration. In order to best benefit from the course, we recommend that you already have in mind one or two jobs that you’re looking for. Learn how to easily master the key steps in developing and writing your resume, and to customize and adapt your resume for specific jobs.  Open to all genders ages 60 or older who reside in Marin.

Taking Control Express:Making Age an Asset1 Day, 1 hour (Virtual)

Identify the strengths you bring to the workplace based on your age and experience.  Practice making age your asset in a practice interview session.  Open to all genders ages 60 or older who reside in Marin.

Learn why women find negotiating salary challenging.  Prepare for an effective salary conversation with an employer.  Feel confident and empowered to ask for what you deserve!

Learn about behavioral interviewing and how to master your responses.  Practice interview questions with a partner.  Open to all genders ages 60 or older who reside in Marin.

We will cover the impact networking has on your job search.  Practice networking and conducting an informational interview activity.  Open to all genders ages 60 or older who reside in Marin.

LinkedIn1 Day, 1.5 Hours (Virtual)

LinkedIn is the hottest new way to network online in a completely professional setting. Come to our workshop and learn the basics of setting up a profile, with tips on the right phrases to get you noticed by employers and other future connections. Learn how to make connections online and leverage those connections for professional networking. You’ll leave with a strong sense of how to use this easy and incredibly important social media tool for the working world!

Computer Questions & Answers3 days, 9-10:30am (Virtual)

An open-ended series of classes where you get answers to your computer questions. If you need to buy a new computer, are you prepared? What type? how powerful? How much storage? how would you protect the computer and protect yourself on the Internet?  These and many more basic computer questions from software and hardware, anti-virus software, internet safety and password protection are covered in this class series.

Microsoft Outlook2 Days, 1.5 hours (Virtual)

In this class series you will learn how to use the core Outlook features including sending and receiving emails with attachments, how to use the To Do/Task list, how to create and manage contacts and how to create calendar events, manage appointments and meetings and share calendars with others. This is an essential class for the Microsoft Office workplace.

Microsoft Word, Levels 1 & 26 days, 1.5 hours (Virtual)

Word Level 1

In this class series you will learn the core skills for creating Word documents including setting paragraph and line spacing, text formatting, alignment, tabs and indents, headers and footers, tables, inserting pictures and using styles. This is an essential class for the Microsoft Office workplace.

Word Level 2

Go beyond the basics and use word as a desktop publishing, long document manager. Learn how to create and modify styles and generate table of contents and indexes. Use section breaks and columns to create newspaper style columns. Draw tables and insert and modify pictures and graphics. This is an essential class for anyone working on multi-page complex documents.

Microsoft Excel, Levels 1 & 26 days, 1.5 hours - (Virtual) Excel 2

Level 1

In this class series you will learn the core skills for creating Excel spreadsheets including creating formulas and functions, label and number formatting, absolute references, charts and graphs, sorting and filtering and working with dates. This is an essential class for the Microsoft Office workplace.

Level 2

Go beyond the basics and use Excel for the creation of dynamic interactive worksheets. Partial absolute references, trigger formulas and functions such as V-Lookup and decision making are included. The important data tools including sorting, advanced filters, subtotals and pivot tables are covered. This is an essential class for anyone working on decision making and analytical spreadsheets.

Microsoft PowerPoint is a complete presentation graphics program that produces professional-looking presentations and is used in many workplaces today by a variety of employees. To make presentations more impressive, you can add charts, diagrams, tables, pictures, video, sound and animation effects.

During the class you'll learn how to create a presentation, enter slide text, add a new slide, apply a design theme and print a PowerPoint presentation. Learn to modify a presentation, format text, insert and modify shapes, align and group objects. Master inserting objects into a presentation, inserting text from MS Word, clip art, insert and style a picture, insert a text box, a chart, table and format WordArt.

Zoom3 Days, 1.5 hours (Virtual)

Zoom has become an essential skill for communication in the workplace. In this class series, you will learn how to join and participate in a Zoom meeting, how to set up and schedule a Zoom meeting and how to set up and manage Zoom breakout rooms.

Slack1.5 Hours (Virtual)

Slack is a messaging app for businesses that brings people together and connects them to the information they need across multiple devices and platforms. In this overview class you will learn about workspaces, and how to use channels, upload and share files, post basic messages, and connect by voice, video or screen.  An alternative to email it seems that every workplace group is using Slack. If you feel left out of the loop and you are wondering what the fuss is all about, this class is for you.

Google Workspace (Formerly Google Suite)2 Days, 1.5 hours (Virtual)

Google Suite Email, Contacts and Calendar is the new alternative to Microsoft Outlook. In this class series you will learn how to use the Gmail feature including sending and receiving emails with attachments, how to create and manage contacts and how to create calendar events, manage appointments and meetings and share calendars with others.

Popular Google Apps such as Docs, Sheets and Slides are explored in this series of classes plus cloud-based storage through Google Drive. You will learn how to share and collaborate on documents and spreadsheets, create slide show presentations and understand document versions and how to retrieve them. A great alternative to Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneDrive.

How to Search On Goggle1.5 Hours (Virtual)

Search basics, using descriptive words and locations. How to use Google to research employers and jobs. Search using your voice along with keyword choices, spelling and capitalization concerns, finding quick answers for weather, dictionary items, calculations, unit conversions and quick facts etc. How to use search operators for more advanced search techniques such as filtering and image searches.
