Celebrate the Marin Women’s Hall of Fame Class of 2016!

We are pleased to announce the five women who will be inducted into the 2016 Women’s Hall of Fame, and we invite the community to attend the event on Thursday, March 31, 2016. Though the areas of impact vary greatly among the honorees, shared passion, dedication, wit and hard work drive this inspiring group of women to ensure the progress and well-being of Marin’s citizens. Click here for tickets.

Before the Marin Women's Hall of Fame, virtually no records of women's achievements had been recorded in Marin County. In its mission to empower women and eliminate racism, YWCA San Francisco and Marin stewards this annual event, ensuring a legacy for future generations that documents not only successes, but also represents a diverse sisterhood of women supporting each other, standing together and moving the needle on progress for all women.

Please join the Marin Women’s Hall of Fame in welcoming and congratulating the 2016 Inductees:

For forty years, The Honorable Verna Adams, Marin County Superior Court Judge and MWHF 2016 inductee has fought to make the legal system accessible for the underserved and underrepresented in our community, redefining justice for domestic violence survivors, children and mental health awareness. She was one of only three women in her law school graduating class, the third woman president of the Marin County Bar Association and the fourth ever woman judge of the Marin County Superior Court.

Deborah Ann Hubsmith (posthumous) was a leading advocate for alternative transportation in Marin County and is responsible for the bike racks on Golden Gate Transit busses and many of the extensive bike routes enjoyed by county residents. Marin would not be the eco-conscious community it is today without her lifelong dedication to changing attitudes and perceptions about our community’s carbon footprint.

Barbara Morrison has shown her deep and abiding commitment to helping small businesses succeed for over three decades. From her industry-leading work in SBA lending as the founder and CEO of TMC Financing to her change-making innovations with local nonprofit Working Solutions, Barbara has helped small businesses get the capital they need to be the thriving community of our commercial streets throughout the Bay Area.

Mary Kay Sweeney is the Executive Director of Homeward Bound, the principal provider of shelter and services for homeless families and individuals in Marin County. Her leadership has always kept Homeward Bound ahead of the curve in finding solutions for the homeless, from her innovating programming that merges housing, job training and social enterprise to her game-changing nonprofit IPO offering.

Florence Williams is a Marin City educator who has been instrumental in creating access to education for all of Marin’s youth. An educator to her core, a founder and board member of numerous vital nonprofits, and a community leader for over thirty years are just a few of the roles she has worn with excellence over her illustrious career.

The 2016 Marin Women's Hall of Fame Gala will be held on March 31, 2024 at Peacock Gap Event Center, San Rafael. Tickets are $85 - $105. Tickets for the event and additional information can be found at www.mwhf.org
